Sensei Phil Norman
Phil is a fully qualified teacher, having gained a sports science honours degree and then a PGCE and assessor awards. Phil is a qualified instructor in 8 different martial art styles! He has competed in many different martial art competitions, going on to win World and British titles.

Sensei Nina Smith
Nina has the club honour of being the first female to receive her Black Belt. It is admirable that even after this achievement she still maintains a consistent and demanding training regime. Nina also assists in the behind the scenes running of the club and has proven to be a very valuable member of the team.

Sensei Woody White
Self Defence & Combat Sports first ever student! Woody has been one of Phil's training partners for nearly 20 years and as a result is highly skilled in the arts, including Jeet Kune Do, Kali, Kickboxing and Combat Submission Wrestling. Woody has an excellent competition record and gained Southern Area and British titles in Amateur Mixed Martial Art events. He has received instructorships in his own right by Guru Dan Inosanto, Sifu Rick Faye and Sensei Erik Paulson.

Sensei Dave Hyde
Dave has been training and competing for the club for the last 10 years and has a strong background in kickboxing, his highlights come in the way of winning the BNMA English title in 2003 after taking the fight at short notice, and then going on to win the WKU British title in 2004.

Sensei Glenn Winsladen
Glenn is firm favourite with the juniors, he has completed sports leadership and coaching awards at college and is currently studying chiropractor. Certified under Sensei Erik Paulson, he has an outstanding competition record, competing successfully in MMA and Kick Boxing. At 18 he won the Middleweight British Amateur Shoot-Wrestling Title. Glenn has since stepped up to compete at a professional level and secured a submission win in his first bout in Germany.

Sensei Jim McGuigan
Recent member to the team, Jim is an enthusiastic instructor and was awarded his blackbelt in September 2006 by 5 x World Champion Trevor Ambrose after a rigourous test. Jim has been a very valuable member SDCS providing team support at all events. Jim maintains a good fitness level by training regularly with the club when not teaching.

Sensei Tony Pears
An exceptional martial artist, With 18 years training and 10 years teaching experience. Tony is a master of all trades! Tony is still keen to further his knowledge and regular attends martial art seminars around the world. He is also certified under Guru Dan Inosanto and Sensei Erik Paulson

Sensei Simon Millward
Although new to teaching, Simons young age doesn’t diminish his experience gained through years of training and competing. Simon is also a fully qualified coach and gym instructor and is now studying his advanced instructor course. Simon is currently involved with teaching the younger members of the team and is a popular instructor and a popular training partner.

Sensei Lauren Leete
One of our newest members of the SDCS instructor’s team, Lauren has previous experience in full contact kickboxing competitions and hopes to compete again in the future, whilst taking a rest from competing she is still training hard and has become a valuable Kids instructor.

Sensei Mel Sutton
Also a recent addition to the team, Mel has been working through her grading belts steadily and is currently in training for the next one! She has experience working with children and this has proved very useful when teaching the SDCS Juniors.
